Warm Down - Animal Safari

Leader talks through how they’re going on an animal safari. The family follow instructions that brings the heart rate down and allows the children to relax and cool down. Encourage trying to get them to move slowly/ quietly to not be heard. Can work together as a family.
  • Tiptoe through the forest
  • Climb slowly over rocks
  • Wriggle/crawl through the caves
  • At the end, curl up and become the unicorn in the cave, as small and sleepy as possible.

Sitting upright, bring the soles of the feet together with the knees pushing out to the sides, lean forwards as far as possible while trying to keep the knees down to release the hips. This can be taken or switched to a forward fold where legs comfortably crossed and the upper body folds forwards with arms long in front.

Backpack Course

Everyone has a backpack, in space try to hold it above head and do exercises like squat down/ sit down and stand up, holding it above the head, then try balancing on one leg while holding it above the head. Can create a relay where everyone lines up, have to pass the backpack over the head to the next person, the person at the end has to put it on, jump to the end of the room and back, and then join the end of the line and pass it over head along the line again.

Balance

Balance beams - balance on the line one foot in front of the other with arms out,
flamingo balance - stand like a flamingo and time who can be a flamingo the longest, egg and spoon on the line.
Balance whilst completing movements - eg. crouch down whilst balanced on one leg.
Marker balance - Participants balance a marker or equivalent on a part of their body such as the head or back and perform movements. This could include
* Crawl/ walk to a point and back Get them to walk backwards for some additional tests
* Class leader calls a movement for participants. Eg. Squat, stand on one leg, lean forward etc.

Balloon Boxing

Tie a piece of elastic or similar (ribbon, string etc) to the balloon. Tie the other end around a particpants head. Continue to box the balloon whilst moving around and avoiding others. Try and do a left step with a left handed box and a right step with a right handed box.

Balloon Clean the Sofa

1 participant is nominated to protect the sofa. The remaining participants try and hit the balloons onto the sofa, the participant protecting the sofa try's to hit the balloons away with a hand or noodle.
