Tendus

Activity

Tendus

Standing with feet turned out, can point and flex each foot a few times, to warm up the ankles and set a “ballet” theme. Can start with a few plies (bend the knees, pushing the knees out) to warm the legs. Can try plies with hands above head to challenge balance too. Then one leg comes out straight in front, point the toes and sweep it behind you and back again. Can make it more fun by stopping at different points (eg pointing toe out to the side, all the way behind, back to the front) and then try balancing on leg and pointing out in the air. Can also include ballet-style exercises such as walking on tiptoes, Ports de Bras arm movements (from low, to holding in front, to the sky, arms to the side …) Standing on toes and spinning around.
Notes
  • Can have everyone hold onto wall for support if needed, or partner up to help each other balance.
  • May require some adjustment to suit Pre-School aged children, the elderly, pregnant women or SEND participants.
